A lot of files ... PDF Print E-mail http://ftp-unzip.com/ZipDeploy/misc/packages/a-lot-of-files-...

A lot of popular website packages are shipped as Zip archives,or .tar.gz archives, which is nice, because you download everything with one click, don't you?

Generally these systems rely on many modules or sub-modules, as well as additional images (.gif, .jpg, .png), Flash movies, CSS files and Javascript , PHP , ASP, JSP scripts.

A list of some of those packages and their structure:

Icon

Package Type # files
 Joomla CMS Joomla (1.0.11)CMS 1977
 Drupal CMS Drupal (4.7.5)
CMS 172
 Wordpress Blog Wordpress (2.0.6)
Blog 322
 phpMyAdmin phpMyAdmin (2.8.1)
 DB 539
 osCommerce eShop osComemrce (2.2)
 eShop 1005

While some hosting providers offer (through their web control panel) the possibility to install such a feature automatically, sometimes what you're looking for (in terms of product and version) is not in the list.

You may have already had a traumaticCry experience trying to install such a product on your website using regular FTP transfers.

If so, you're in the right place ! What about uploading to your website the Zip package you've got and deploy (unzip or unpack) it there? That's what ZipDeploy (upload fast) does. Give it a try !

Quote of the day
The lack of a cPanel at GoDaddy makes remote unzipping almost impossible. I've tried some PHP scripts but they seem to stop from a browser buffer limit or something.
I just fired this puppy up and it did a Joomla upgrade in less than three minutes. A manual copy could have taken all night with the risk of some file corruption.
Thanks!
